01 — Capabilities

One works, every operation. No subcontracted surprises.

Every part is programmed, cut, folded, welded, finished and inspected under our own roof in Sheffield — so we control the tolerance, the finish and the date.

  • Fibre laser cutting

6 kW fibre laser on 3,000 × 1,500 mm sheets, 0.5–12 mm stainless. Nitrogen-assisted for clean, oxide-free edges ready to weld.

    ±0.1 mm · 0.5–12 mm · 3 m bed

  • CNC press-brake folding

160-tonne, 3.1 m press brake with an 8-axis back-gauge and angle measurement, so the fortieth part folds like the first.

    ±0.5° · 160 t · 3,100 mm

  • TIG & spot welding

Coded welders, back-purged with argon on hygienic seams. Welds are dressed, pickled and passivated so corrosion resistance is restored.

    ISO 9606-1 · 304/316 filler

  • Finishing

Brushed No.4, bead-blasted, mirror No.8 or electropolished — done in-house and protected with laser-grade film until it reaches you.

  • Hardware & assembly

PEM nuts, studs and standoffs, gaskets, hinges and locks fitted. We kit, label and pack to your bill of materials.

    PEM · IP-rated gaskets · kitting

  • Send us a file

DXF, DWG, STEP or a dimensioned sketch.

We check every drawing for manufacturability and suggest changes that save money before we quote.

02 — Grades & finishes

Choose the surface before we cut a thing.

Pick a finish and a grade to see how the plate catches the light. Move your cursor — or drag on a phone — to move the lamp.

    Family-run in Sheffield since 1998

Right first time — or we remake it at our cost.

If a part we made is out of tolerance on your drawing, we remake it in the next production slot and pay the carriage both ways. Every batch ships with a first-article report, a certificate of conformity and 3.1 mill certificates traceable to the heat number.

04 — How a job runs

From DXF to delivered part in six steps.

Most jobs ship 5–10 working days after you approve the quote. Here is exactly what happens in between.

  1. 01 · Day 0

    Send a drawing

Email a DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF — or a dimensioned sketch on squared paper. Tell us the grade, finish and quantity, and when you need it.

  2. 02 · Within 24 h

    Fixed price, in writing

An estimator — not a web form — checks the drawing, flags anything that will cost you money, and sends a fixed price with a ship date.

  3. 03 · Day 1–2

    Programme & nest

We unfold your 3D model, apply our measured bend allowances and nest parts tightly on certified sheet to keep material cost down.

  4. 04 · Day 2–5

    Cut & fold

Laser-cut to ±0.1 mm, then folded on the press brake with every first-off angle measured before the batch runs.

  5. 05 · Day 4–8

    Weld & finish

TIG-welded with back-purge, then dressed, pickled, passivated and finished to the sample you approved.

  6. 06 · Day 5–10

    Inspect & deliver

Measured against your drawing, filmed, packed and delivered on our own van within 60 miles — with the paperwork in the box.

06 — Customers

What engineers say once the parts arrive.

  • We sent a STEP file on Tuesday afternoon and had a fixed price before lunch on Wednesday. Four hundred guards, every one within tolerance. They’ve been our fabricator ever since.

    Rachel Production manager · Chesterfield
  • The electropolished hatches passed our cleanroom validation first time. Certificates, Ra readings and the inspection report were in the box, not three emails later.

    Imran Validation engineer · Macclesfield
  • Architectural trim is unforgiving — every fold shows. Northbrook’s reveals lined up across three floors without a single shim.

    Tom Site manager · Leeds

Questions we’re asked most

What files do you need to quote?

A DXF or DWG for flat parts, STEP for folded or welded parts. A PDF or a photographed sketch with dimensions is fine for simple work — we’ll draw it up and send it back for approval.

Is there a minimum order?

No. We make single prototypes and batches of up to 5,000. Prototype prices are credited against the production order if the design doesn’t change.

How quickly can you turn a job round?

Typically 5–10 working days from approved quote. Laser-cut-only parts can go out in 48 hours when the machine schedule allows — ask and we’ll tell you honestly.

Which grades and thicknesses do you work with?

304, 316L and duplex 2205 from stock, 0.5–12 mm for cutting and up to 6 mm folded at 3 m length. We buy only from mills that supply EN 10204 3.1 certificates.

Can you supply paperwork for food and pharma?

Yes — mill certificates traced to heat number, certificate of conformity, first-article inspection report and, where needed, weld maps and Ra readings.

Do you work from site measurements?

For architectural work within 30 miles we’ll survey on site, then template and dry-fit before finishing so it goes in first time.
